EGG, China Beidahuang Potato Group Signed MOU on JV

In 2015, EGG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Heilongjiang Beidahuang Potato Group.

The agreement was signed for the “establishment of seed potato production joint venture”. Both companies have developed strong business relationship resulting in the MOU. Starting 2015/16, two companies will produce and supply various varieties of seed potatoes based on the agreement.

Beidahuang is a conglomerate of state-owned agribusinesses based in Heilongjiang, China. It was listed among the top 100 pilot enterprises of large-sized enterprises in China. Total asset is over RMB 50 billion, with total sales income reaching RMB 26.8 billion, ranking first among the top 500 large-scale agricultural enterprises. Total land area is 5.5 million ha (12% of the total area of Heilongjiang province). The cultivated land per capita is 1.34 ha, 16.4 times of the national average.

    EGG signed Joint Cultivation Agreement on potato growing in 2019 with Beidahuang Potato Group and Beian Yongliyinong Potato Specialized Planting Cooperatives in China. EGG will supply MCTs to China and both companies will begin to produce healthy virus-free potatoes for the market.

    In May 2018, EGG signed a three-way MOU with CJ Freshway, one of the major food retail companies in Korea, and Eoulim, a renowned farming association. Under this agreement, the parties will jointly participate in the introduction of the new variety in Korea. This sets a win-win partnership between the food distribution company, agri-tech venture company and contract farmers, ultimately stimulating the Korean potato industry. The parties will start off with potatoes but also work their way through to strengthen the inter-farm relations by developing new varieties of other agriculture products such as onions, sweet potatoes and etc.
